Overview
Dexcel’s Multifunction Signal Conditioning Card offers 16 analog and 20
digital isolated channels along with 4 isolated Analog Outputs and 8
Potential Free Digital Outputs. Analog Outputs and Inputs are capable
of source and measure 4 – 20 mA of current. This card can be interfaced
to the PC or data logging equipment using redundant RS-232 interfaces.
This card is also capable of doing 4 channels RS232 to RS485 conversion.
Functionality
The Altera Cyclone – III FPGA present on this card configures and
captures the data on every channel. The data captured by the Signal
Conditioning card is fed to the data-logger via RS485 interface.
Redundancy is provided on the RS485 Interface for a reliable data
transfer. The data-logger can also control the Analog and Digital
Outputs using same RS485 port.
A high precision Sigma Delta ADC and current output DACs are present on
this card for measuring and sourcing the 4-20mA current on AI and AO
channels. The data acquisition of all the 16 AI channels is done at the
rate of 12.5Hz. The Digital Outputs of the card are provided with
Potential Free Relay Contacts. Isolated digital Inputs can sense the
states of 20 input channels.
Four Isolated RS485 ports are available on card for the user
applications. Isolation is provided on each I/O channels of the signal
conditioning card as a safety measure against the transients. This card
supports redundant arrangement in the input 24VDC Power Supply.
