Overview

USB is one of the default interfaces for any Laptop / PC. But interfaces like RS-485 and RS-422 are not normally available in the common PC/Laptops. But for any industry application, RS-485 and RS-422 are still popular. The solution discussed here converts the data at the USB end to RS485 or RS-422. This unit is USB powered handy and compact interface converter.

Functionality

The USB Side can be interface to any USB HOST interface as in the case of Laptops, PCs or Single Board Computers. The type B connector on the unit can be interface using any standard USB-A to USB-B cable. The unit is powered form the Host USB Interface. The other side interface can be either RS-485 or RS-422. This can be selected using an on-board jumper. The RS-485/422 side is having a RJ_45 connector.

Application

Any application that has to control a RS-485 / RS-422 based device using a USB interface. Finds application mainly in the industry application.
